LATHROP - Authorities booked a man into the San Joaquin County Jail after he made threats to shoot fellow employees.

A deputy with Lathrop Police Services took a report Monday on the criminal threat, indicating that the suspect told coworkers that he would arrive to work Tuesday and shoot employees. Authorities say the suspect also displayed a photo of himself holding a firearm.

When contacted by the deputy who responded, the suspect said he did not intend to commit the crime. Authorities arrested and booked 25 year old Brandon Bernardeau and charged him with criminal threats with the intent to terrorize. He was being held on $150,000 bond and expected to appear in court Tuesday afternoon.

"Criminal threats are not to be taken lightly," Lathrop Police Services said in an online statemtent. "A suspect may have no intention of completing the violence, but what matters is the perception of the intended victim. If the victim believes that the suspect has the means and capability to commit the act, it is a criminal threat."
