Three Killed in Oakdale-Waterford Highway Crash Modesto Fire Department

STANISLAUS COUNTY - Authorities say a violent crash claimed three lives on the Oakdale-Waterford Highway Wednesday night.

The crash was reported about 9:50pm as a head on traffic collision. Officials say 21 year old Manuel Flores Jimenez Jr. of Oakdale was traveling south on the highway at high speed in a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro, when for unknown reasons he veered into the path of another vehicle.

The other vehicle, a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta driven by a 29 year old man from Snelling, was impacted by the Camaro. The Volkswagen overturned and landed on the east side of the road. The Camaro came to a stop in the roadway blocking both lanes. The driver of the Camaro, and both occupants of the Volkswagen were killed.

At about 9:54, authorities say they received additional information that a third vehicle traveling north on the highway could not se the wreckage and collided with the Camaro. The impact caused the Camaro to spin, and the third vehicle, a gray Hyundai landed on the shoulder of the roadway.

Officials say both occupants of the Hyundai were transported, one was critical, the other with non life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say Jimenez was not wearing a seat belt. Emergency personnel remained on scene for several hours, working to determine the factors of the crash.

It is unclear if alcohol or drugs were involved, pending toxicology tests.
