Tracy Amazon Associate Tests Positive for COVID-19

TRACY - An email sent to employees of the Tracy Amazon Fulfillment Center reports one of their employees recently tested positive for COVID-19.

The email was sent to us on condition of anonymity by the employee for fear of retaliation. The email reads in part “We want to let you know we have a confirmed case of COVID-19 at OAK4. The affected associate’s last day on site was April 13, 2020, and consistent with our daily processes, the site has undergone enhanced cleanings since the associate’s last day.”

The employee who sent us a copy of the email stated that although they were nervous about the news, they felt very safe with Amazon’s response and transparency with the situation.

The email went on to say social distancing was mandatory, and they are strictly following CDC guidelines and encourage anyone to stay home if they feel ill.

“We understand that you may be nervous about coming to work. Individuals will not be penalized for any absences. And, if you feel sick please STAY home.”

What they don’t state is that they are “supposedly” enforcing all these regulations and not penalizing employees for staying home, but they are hiring like crazy to the point that they are over staffed and have people standing around waiting to be assigned to work areas. It is already very hard to keep a 6’ distance and now with them over hiring it’s more crowded than it was before COVID-19. Amazon also waited 3 days before mentioning anything to any of it’s employees about it being a confirmed case yet production didn’t stop and they did not say what department it was in for fear that the employees staffed in which ever dept it was in would not show up. This is all a PR stunt because if Amazon really cared then they would’ve shut down the facility for proper cleaning and notified everyone immediately

We actually received the exact same text/email at our center. I work at the DSM1 West Sac delivery station.

Yet I have not seen any news coverage on this nor have I received any follow ups. Makes me wonder how many more there are out there. A lot of us are afraid to come to work in fear that despite amazons efforts, it still doesnt seem to be enough.

    Hello Amazonian

We want to let you know we were notified this afternoon of a confirmed case of COVID-19 at DSM1. The affected individual's last day on site was April 7th 2020, and consistent with our daily processes, the site has undergone enhanced cleanings since the associate's last day.

We continue to follow the CDC's guidance and will inform any co-workers who may have been in close contact with the affected associate. If someone is found to have been in close contact, we will proactively reach out to them individually to advise them of their possible exposure to COVID-19.

We have taken a number of measures to keep us all safe and healthy, including MANDATORY social distancing of 6ft with daily audits, providing facemasks in limited quantities for anyone entering the building to wear as a preventative measure, NEW thermal temperature checks for ANYONE entering the building, staggered shifts, and extended breaks. We also continue to follow the guidance of the CDC, WHO, local health authorities, and private medical experts on other recommended preventative measures. You can read more about what we are doing to keep our team safe and healthy here.

We understand that you may be nervous about coming to work. Individuals will not be penalized for any absences. And, if you feel sick, please STAY home.

Thank you for everything you're doing for the community during this unprecedented time.
As always, if you have any questions, please reach out to ANY manager or HR team member.
