Woman Killed by Traffic Collision

MODESTO - A woman died from injuries sustained during a traffic collision Tuesday afternoon according to Police.

The collision happened at about 2:45pm near the intersection of Kerr Avenue and Yosemite Boulevard. Police say the woman was crossing Yosemite Boulevard at Kerr Avenue when she was struck by a GMC Yukon that was traveling Westbound and turning onto Kerr Avenue.

The pedestrian was rushed to a hospital where she died from her injuries. Authorities say the driver of the Yukon stopped and cooperated with investigators.

Police say the driver did not exhibit any signs of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Pedestrian Struck by Vehicle, Seriously Injured

MODESTO - Police investigated a traffic collision involving a pedestrian that resulted in major injuries Saturday evening.

At about 6:50pm, emergency personnel responded to the area of Coffee Road near Ensenada Drive for a report of a vehicle collision. Arriving firs responders found a 65 year old man who had been struck by a vehicle.

The pedestrian was rushed to a local hospital with major injuries. 

Officials at the scene say the pedestrian was attempting to cross Coffee Road in an eastbound direction when the collision occurred. The vehicle was traveling in a southbound direction. The driver of the car stopped and cooperated with authorities investigating the crash.

Police urge pedestrians and motorists to be safe on the road. In 2019, the traffic investigation unit responded to 19 serious collisions involving pedestrians. Of those, the pedestrians were found to be at fault in ten of those cases. Out of those 19, eight of them were fatal. In six of those fatality collisions, the pedestrians were found to be at fault.
 
Officers plan to hand out reflective safety vests and wristbands this year to pedestrians through a grant from the office of traffic safety.

Elderly Woman Struck, Killed by Vehicle

TURLOCK - An elderly woman was struck and killed by a vehicle Wednesday evening, police say.

At about 6:00pm Wednesday, officers with the Turlock Police Department received a call reporting a pedestrian down on a roadway. Police responded to the 1200 block of East Avenue and found a 78 year old woman who had been struck by a vehicle.

Bystanders at the scene of the crash began performing cpr on the pedestrian in an attempt to save her life, but unfortunately she died at the scene. Officials say the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities on the investigation.

Authorities said alcohol or drug impairment did not appear to be a factor in the crash, and they would like anyone with information regarding this collision to contact officer Diaz at (209) 668-1200, or Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636 where callers can remain anonymous.

STOCKTON - Police are asking for the public's help in locating a vehicle that was involved in a fatal collision with a bicyclist Thursday morning.

Shortly before 5:00am, officers responded to a report of a collision on West Charter Way near the San Joaquin River bridge. Arriving officers located a bicyclist who had been struck. The rider was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police were able to locate the driver of one vehicle involved in the collision. That motorist stayed on the scene and cooperated with police during their investigation. Authorities say a second vehicle struck the bicyclist and may not have been aware of the collision.

Pedestrian Killed by Train

STOCKTON - A man was killed late Monday afternoon after he was struck by a train.

The incident was reported at about 6:48pm on East Morada Lane near Fox Creek Drive. Arriving officers located the victim 300 yards north of Morada Lane, who was deceased.

Railroad police arrived to take over the investigation. No further details were released Monday night.

Glass Spill Stalls Traffic on Highway 99

MODESTO - A glass spill on Highway 99 slowed traffic in Modesto Monday afternoon.

The California Highway Patrol said the spill was approximately the length of a football field, and was blocking several lanes. The road hazard was located on the northbound side of Highway 99 just south of Carpenter Road.

Authorities believe the glass came from a tractor trailer that may have caused the spill. CalTrans crews were called to assist with the cleanup. Officials urged motorists to avoid the area.

Pedestrian Critically Injured by Hit and Run Driver

CERES - A pedestrian suffered major injuries by a hit and run driver late Saturday afternoon.

The emergency was reported at about 6:30pm on Mitchell Road just north of Service Road. Police and fire personnel arrived and located an older adult male down in the roadway who was struck by a vehicle.

Emergency crews immediately began to perform CPR on the patient, and shortly after loaded him into an AMR ambulance and rushed him to a hospital.

The pedestrian appeared to have been thrown or dragged from the initial point of impact about 30 yards.

Mitchell Road was closed while officers investigated the scene and took measurements.

Police had no description of the vehicle that fled and are asking for the public’s help. Anyone who may have any information regarding this collision or who may have witnessed the vehicle leaving the area to contact Officer Freddie Ortiz at (209) 538-5678.
