SALIDA - A collision involving an Acura sedan tore a fence out of a yard and damaged other parked vehicles early Sunday afternoon.

The crash happened at about 12:15pm on the 5000 block of Perez Street. The vehicle tore through a fence, ripping it from its posts and damaging other parked vehicles at the residence. The car came to a stop in front of the home's driveway where the occupants exited the vehicle and fled.

A female passenger was quickly detained, while the male driver attempted to flee through yards. He was taken into custody by California Highway Patrol officers. The vehicle was full of luggage, clothing, handbags and other property.

At time of publication, it was unclear wether the incident originated as a pursuit.
