STOCKTON - Authorities investigated a two alarm fire Monday that left one person dead and several residents of an apartment building displaced.

The fire happened at the building at the intersection of Hunter and Miner at about 7:00am. Firefighters arrived and found several residents hanging out of the second floor windows. In total about 14 occupants were rescued, one died as a result of the fire.

Officials note that the incident is suspicious in nature, indicating that the fire had several starting points, including the stairwell. Police and arson investigators worked closely together to determine the nature of the blaze.
