Home Damaged by Overnight Fire

MODESTO - A fire damaged a home overnight, nearly spreading to a second home early Sunday morning.

Fire crews responded to the 700 block of Foster Road shortly after 1:30am for a report of a home on fire. Arriving fire crews encountered smoke and fire extending out the back of the home. Early reports indicate a second alarm was dispatched to the scene as the fire was threatening a second home.

The fire was brought under control in 20 minutes, and the involved home suffered major damage.

A neighbor said she woke up to a bright glow coming through her bedroom window in the middle of the night and found firefighters arriving to battle the blaze. She said fire crews sprayed water on her home to protect it from catching fire.

The nieghbor indicated a family had just finished working on the home and was preparing to move in on Monday, but the fire destroyed the interior of the home.

The cause of the fire was under investigation, and damage estimates were placed at $150,000
