Flash Flood Warnings Issued For Tuolumne County TCSO

TUOLUMNE COUNTY - Authorities closed off several area roadways in the sierra communities in anticipation of severe weather and flash floods Wednesday afternoon.

A weather advisory indicating flash floods was issued until 5:15pm Wednesday. Authorities with the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office closed several roads that were expected to flood, warning motorists not to travel through them.

“It takes just inches of water to move a car,” the warning indicated.

Officials listed several road closures due to flooding. These included Lyons Bald Mountain Road, Campbells Flat Road, Bell Mooney Road, Sims Road, and Rawhide Road at the Woodscreek Bridge.

Sandbagging locations are available for those in need, but residents were reminded to bring their own bags and shovels. Those locations included the Road Department at the Columbia Airport, the Jamestown Yard at 18188 7th Street, the Tuolumne Yard at 18870 Birch Street, and the Groveland Yard at 11240 Wards Ferry Road in Big Oak Flat.
