Motorist Killed in Crash, Several Others Injured

MODESTO – A crash involving a driver on the run from authorities resulted in their death, and sent the occupants of an uninvolved vehicle to the hospital following a crash on Crows Landing Road.

The crash happened at about 3:35pm near the “S” curve where Crows Landing Road becomes South Seventh Street near the Tuolumne River. Moments before, the vehicle responsible for the collision was on the run near the area of Shackleford Elementary School in South Modesto. The circumstances for why they fled are not known at the moment.

Deputies pursuing the vehicle arrived to find the crash scene. They began providing aid to the injured and called for firefighters and ambulances. Officers with the Modesto Police Department and California Highway Patrol responded to assist.

Several ambulances and fire personnel responded to the scene. Firefighters had to use rescue tools to remove the driver of a blue Ford. The two occupants sitting in the front of that vehicle were rushed away quickly by ambulance. A paramedic carefully placed a child on the gurney of another ambulance.

The area was closed off for investigation at time of publication. Motorists trying to navigate around the area should seek alternate routes like South 9th Street or Highway 99.

Pedestrian Killed in Collision With Vehicle

MODESTO – A pedestrian was killed in a collision with a vehicle Tuesday night on South 9th Street.

The collision happened shortly before 6:45pm just south of River Road in the Southbound lanes. Early reports indicate an orange Fiat ran over the pedestrian, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Fiat remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. The roadways leading up to the crash scene were closed by Sheriff Deputies.

California Highway Patrol Officers responded to investigate.

Pedestrian Involved Collision Investigated in Modesto

MODESTO – Authorities investigated a vehicle versus pedestrian collision Friday evening on Kansas Avenue.

The collision took place near Reno Avenue. Officers closed off both directions of Kansas Avenue during the investigation. The driver of the involved vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with officers.

Investigators marked areas of the roadway as evidence, one of them appeared to be a boot.

The condition of the pedestrian was unknown at time of publication.

Collision Involving Motorcyclist Closes Down Carpenter Road

MODESTO – A collision involving a sedan and a motorcycle closed down Carpenter Road Thursday night.

The crash happened shortly after 9:00pm near Elm Avenue. One patient was taken to a hospital by ambulance. Their condition at time of publication was unknown. The other motorist involved in the collision remained on scene and cooperated with police.

Carpenter Road was closed between Kansas Avenue and Maze Boulevard while police investigated the collision.

This was the second major collision investigation involving a motorcycle for police investigators on Thursday.
