Fatal Pedestrian Collision Investigated

STANISLAUS COUNTY – A pedestrian was pronounced deceased after being discovered on the side of a road, the victim of an apparent vehicle collision Thursday morning.

The incident was reported shortly before 7:00am near the intersection of West Main Street and South Morgan Road. Fire personnel were initially dispatched for a report of a person down on the side of the road suffering an unspecified medical emergency. Authorities were soon requested after it was determined the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle. An air ambulance was initially requested but later canceled.

According to the California Highway Patrol, early indications suggest the crash was a hit and run. There was no description available of an involved vehicle. The pedestrian was only described as a woman.

Pedestrian Killed in Vehicle Collision, Authorities Investigate

MODESTO – Officers with the California Highway Patrol investigated a collision Saturday night that claimed the life of a pedestrian.

The incident was dispatched to officers at about 9:11pm near the area of South 9th Street and the Southbound Highway 99 onramp. Early reports indicate the person was down in the roadway. Arriving officers reported the pedestrian appeared to have been struck by a vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The onramp to the highway and the ramp to the Hatch Road over crossing was closed to traffic while officers investigated the collision. A vehicle with collision damage was located a short distance away and was later towed for evidence.

The area is the same location a woman was struck and killed by a vehicle in Late August.

At about 10:45pm a driver unrelated to the collision drove through the road closure and was found to be driving under the influence.

Fatal Crash Closes Highway 108 Near Riverbank

RIVERBANK – A crash closed a section of Highway 108 just east of Riverbank Sunday evening, claiming the life of a motorist.

The crash happened at about 6:15pm near the intersection of Highway 108 and Snedigar Road. Early reports indicate the crash involved two vehicles colliding head on, with one of them overturning on its side.

Both directions of the Highway were closed into Sunday night. The cause of the collision is under investigation.

Crash Investigated in West Modesto

MODESTO – Police closed off a roadway in West Modesto to investigate a collision after the driver of the involved vehicle was found unresponsive.

At about 8:30pm, emergency crews were called to the intersection of Briggs Avenue and Ackerman Way for a report of a crash involving two vehicles. Arriving personnel found the driver unresponsive and began providing care. The driver was rushed to a hospital by ambulance, where their condition was unknown at time of publication.

A neighbor captured the collision on their surveillance cameras. The video showed the car traveling at a slow speed and eventually colliding into the front of a parked car.

No further details were available Monday night.
