OAKDALE – Authorities searched for a suspect Friday afternoon who reportedly struck an officer with his vehicle.

Shortly after noon police were called to the 1400 block of F Street for a report of a man slumped over in the driver seat of a vehicle. As an Oakdale Police Officer approached on foot to make contact, the driver put the car in gear with the door open. The officer was trapped by the door as the driver reversed the vehicle.

Authorities said the driver fled, dragging the officer. The suspect then drove away and the vehicle later became disabled near Sierra and Knox Roads. The suspect abandoned the vehicle and ran off on foot.

A perimeter search was conducted, but as of 4:00pm the suspect was not located. Officials from Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office, California Highway Patrol, and California Department of Fish and Wildlife all assisted in the search.

Police identified the suspect as 36 year old Christopher Milchen. Anyone who may see him is asked to not approach him, but to call police at (209) 847-2231.

The officer’s injuries were said to be non life threatening.
