Pedestrian Critically Injured in Stockton Crash

STOCKTON – Police investigated a hit and run crash that left a pedestrian critically injured early Friday morning.

Shortly after 1:00am police officers responded to the area of Aurora and Anderson Streets for a report of two pedestrians struck by a vehicle. The victims were identified as two men ages 44 and 32.

Authorities say the two men were walking in the street when they were struck by a vehicle. The car fled the area before emergency personnel arrived.

Both men were transported to a hospital where one was said to have critical injuries. The other is expected to survive.

Police have no description of the driver involved in the crash.

Police Seek Witnesses, Video to Fatal Motorcycle Crash

MODESTO – Authorities are seeking any witnesses or surveillance video to a fatal motorcycle crash that happened over the weekend.

At about 12:15am Saturday, officers responded to the area of Edinburgh Drive and El Vecino Avenue for a report of a collision involving a motorcycle. Police arrived and found the rider, 37 year old Scott Hudson fatally injured from the collision.

Authorities believe Hudson was at a high rate of speed before he lost control of his motorcycle, striking a tree. An uninvolved vehicle also traveling on El Vecino Avenue was struck by motorcycle parts, none of those occupants were injured.

Investigators are looking to contact anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who may have surveillance video in the area of the 800-1200 blocks of El Vecino Avenue. Witnesses can reach out to raduechelr@modestopd.com.

Fatal Crash Reported on Highway

MODESTO – A traffic collision on Highway 99 claimed the life of one person Saturday afternoon.

The crash was reported at about 12:11pm on the Southbound side of the highway near the Beckwith Road offramp. Early reports indicate the vehicle was traveling north when it crashed into the median and overturned into the opposite lanes.

Emergency crews responded and located an occupant trapped in the vehicle. The motorist was pronounced deceased at the scene.

No further details were available at time of publication. The crash was under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.

Fundraiser for Motorcyclist Killed in Crash

MODESTO – A fundraiser was established for a motorcyclist who was killed on October 31st.

A fundraiser for Gary Ortiz was created by his loved ones this week on GoFundme. Ortiz died after crashing into a cargo van that turned in front of him near South 9th Street and Lombardo Avenue Saturday evening.

”He was the light of our life, our biggest fan, and our best supporter,” his daughter wrote. “He loved his babies, his friends, his family and anything two wheels.”

One woman who identified herself as Irene witnessed the crash. She expressed how dangerously fast people travel on 9th Street. She said the van appeared to turn in front of Ortiz’s motorcycle at the last second.

Ortiz was rushed to a hospital via ambulance, but unfortunately lost his life due to his injuries. Officers with the California Highway Patrol responded to investigate the collision. The driver of the van remained at the scene during the investigation.
