MODESTO – One person has been detained for questioning after police located a truck suspected in a fatal hit and run
Officers said a citizen noticed the truck near the 300 block of Magnolia Avenue Thursday afternoon. The citizen called authorities who began searching for the vehicle.
Traffic investigators located the truck parked in a nearby driveway at a residence. The vehicle had no front bumper and no hood. Officers said the vehicle also had a freshly replaced windshield.
One person was detained and taken to the police station to be interviewed by an investigator, however their involvement was unknown at time of publication.
The vehicle was a green Chevrolet S10 pickup.
The collision happened Tuesday night near the intersection of 8th and L Streets. Police responded after a man was struck by a westbound vehicle in the intersection. Police say the truck did not stop and fled north on 7th Street.

Child Airlifted by Helicopter Following Vehicle Collision
MODESTO – A child was flown by helicopter to a hospital as a precaution following a three car collision Sunday night.
At 9:42pm emergency crews responded to the intersection of College and Orangeburg Avenues for the report of a three vehicle collision. One of the involved vehicles was a Stanislaus County Sheriff patrol car, the others were a white four door sedan and a dark Ford SUV.
The white sedan had damage on the passenger side of the vehicle and came to rest on the lawn of a church at the intersection. The patrol car had significant damage to both the front and back of the vehicle and was near the intersection curb. The Ford SUV was facing east on Orangeburg Avenue and had front end damage also.
The deputy appeared to have a head injury. He was seen holding a towel to his head. The sedan had a child in the vehicle and reportedly also had a head injury.
An air ambulance was called to transport the child as a precaution to a pediatric hospital. PHI Med 4-1 responded and landed in a field at Roosevelt School to fly the child.
According to Lieutenant Chris Adams with the Modesto Police Department, everyone involved suffered moderate injuries.
The circumstances regarding the collision were not available Sunday night.
Semi Crash Closes Interstate Five
WEST STANISLAUS COUNTY – A collision involving at least one semi truck closed lanes of Interstate Five Thursday evening.
California Highway Patrol Officers responded to the crash at about 7:15pm on Northbound I-5 near the Stuhr Road exit. Early reports indicate a semi and an Amazon truck collided, resulting in a fire.
An air ambulance was dispatched to the scene for a report of a burn victim.
A hard traffic closure was anticipated Thursday evening.
Police Close Roadway for Major Collision
MODESTO – Police responded to a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian Wednesday night that closed down a road for investigation.
The crash happened shortly before 10:00pm near the intersection of B and Beard Streets. Early reports indicate a vehicle collided with a wheelchair bound person.
Life saving measures were performed on the pedestrian but after several minutes they were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The involved vehicle appeared to be a dark Dodge pickup with visible front end damage.
Police closed down B Street between Beard and Seventh Streets. Traffic officers were called to investigate.
