Record High Temperature Records Tied and Broken

CENTRAL VALLEY – Today 99% of California’s population was under an excessive heat warning or heat advisory according to the National Weather Service.

Despite smoky air due to wildfires nearby, two cities in the region tied and broke high temperature records.

The city of Stockton broke its previous record for the day of 105 degrees set in 1977. The new record for September 6th is now 110 degrees.

The city of Modesto tied its monthly record high and broke its high temperature record for the day. Modesto last saw 106 degrees in 1977 for the day of September 6th.

A Red Flag Warning is issued for the area starting 10 pm Monday continuing until 8 am Wednesday.
