Under California Restricted Species Laws and Regulations, section 2118 from the Department of Fish and Wildlife states “It is unlawful to import, transport, possess, or release alive into this state, except under a revocable nontransferable permit as provided in this chapter and the regulations pertaining thereto, any wild animal of the following species.:

Under section (f) it states “Class Reptilia (snakes, lizards, turtles, alligators) Family Crocodilidae: All Species.” These animals are listed as unlawful to possess unless a special permit is obtained.

In a press release, the Stockton Police Department said Fish and Wildlife officials took custody of the baby alligators after they were found. At the moment it is unclear if the suspect had any kind of permit for them.

Despite multiple weapon charges, 34 year old Darell Kho currently does not have any charges for being in possession of a restricted species.
