MODESTO – A motorist was detained on suspicion of driving under the influence Wednesday evening after a collision that damaged several cars and a utility pole.
The crash happened at about 8:15pm near the 400 block of Elm Avenue. Early reports indicated a vehicle had collided into several parked cars and a utility pole. The pole was sheared at the base.
Stanislaus Sheriff Deputies and CHP Officers responded to investigate. The involved motorist left the crash scene but was later found down the street. He was detained on suspicion of driving under the influence.
No injuries were reported. At about 8:45pm, officers were performing a field sobriety test on the driver.
