RIVERBANK – A pedestrian was struck by a freight train in Riverbank Wednesday morning, impacting surrounding motorists driving through the area.
The incident was reported shortly after 10:30am near the area of Patterson Road and First Street. Authorities located the pedestrian north of the intersection near the Atchison Street overcrossing. They were pronounced deceased at the scene.
No further details were available at time of publication. Area traffic was impacted while authorities investigated the collision. The train was cleared by about noon.
Isn’t this the 2nd incident on that area of tracks? I use to work at company that is in front of those tracks. From what I’ve read on riverbank contract, that company is responsible for proper signals etc for those tracks. The company told employees they are responsible for that part of tracks and would have us employees clean out there and tell homeless people to leave
