TURLOCK – Police identified a 25 year old Ceres man as the victim of Thursday afternoon’s homicide, and the suspect as his brother.

Police responded to the area of the 800 block of West Hawkeye Avenue at about 3:44pm for a report of a person stabbed. The report also indicated the suspect was still in the area.

Arriving officers found the victim, Isaac Urias, suffering from at least one stab wound. Police and fire personnel provided immediate life saving efforts, but the victim died at the scene.

Several persons at the location were detained by police officers and questioned by detectives. Officials said the incident began as an altercation between the victim and his brother, identified as 20 year old Marcos Urias, also of Ceres. He was arrested and booked into jail on murder charges.

Police say the incident is isolated and there is no threat to the public.

“This is a tragic incident where an altercation between brothers turned deadly,” said Police Chief Jason Hedden in a press release. “Our hearts go out to those affected and we are conducting a thorough investigation to determine what exactly happened.”
