ATWATER – Authorities announced the arrest of an 18 year old man in a March homicide case.
The homicide occurred on March 11th shortly after 7:00am. Officers with the Atwater Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle collision at the intersection of Green Sands and Camrose Street. Arriving officers found a man in his 20’s in the driver’s seat suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
Attempts were made to save the victim’s life, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Throughout the investigation, authorities identified 18 year old Aryas Simpson as a suspect in the case and issued a warrant for his arrest. He was located and arrested Sunday morning by authorities and booked into the Merced County Jail on a murder warrant.
