MERCED COUNTY – Officers with California Highway Patrol took two people into custody on narcotics related charges after finding a large amount of cocaine Friday afternoon.
Officers stopped a Nissan Sentra for a window tint violation at about 6:30pm and noticed several indicators that the motorists were involved in criminal activity. During the course of the investigation, officers received consent to search the vehicle.
While searching the vehicle, officers found approximately 11 pounds of what they believed to be packaged cocaine on the floor behind the driver’s seat. K-9 Beny was utilized to sniff the items and confirm the packages were narcotics.
Both occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody on charges including possession of a controlled substance for sale, and transportation of a controlled substance.
