Early Morning Homicide During Home Invasion Investigated Near Ceres

STANISLAUS COUNTY – Authorities investigating homicide just outside the City of Ceres Tuesday morning after a man was reported shot during a home invasion.

The incident happened at about 6:00am near the 2600 block of Gondring Road. Deputies arrived and found the victim, identified as 22 year old Christian Sanchez, suffering from life threatening injuries. The deputies provided aid until medical personnel arrived and took him to a hospital where he died.

According to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office, relatives of Sanchez were awaken by several men with firearms inside of their home. Sanchez was shot during the incident, and the men quickly fled. It was unknown if they fled on foot or in a vehicle.

Detectives responded to investigate the incident, and much of the surrounding area was closed off by crime scene tape. Deputies patrolling nearby residences and farms asked neighbors if they saw or heard anyone suspicious in the area. No further information was provided by officials for release.
