STOCKTON – The man accused of a fatal shooting outside a Golden 1 bank on Pacific Avenue was found guilty this week, the San Joaquin County District Attorney announced.

Laonard Alexander, 45, was found guilty of first degree murder in the fatal shooting of Tyrique Harris outside the credit union branch on August 11th, 2022. Police responded to the report of the shooting at about 10:45am and found Harris suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the head and face. Efforts to save his life were unsuccessful, and he died at the scene.

The bank was open and filled with customers at the time of the shooting.

Authorities said video surveillance revealed that the suspect and victim were both involved in an altercation in the parking lot prior to the gunfire. Officials say after conducting business in the bank, the suspect approached the victim from behind and shot him six times.

Alexander was also convicted of a firearm enhancement. He faces 50 years to life in prison, and is scheduled to be sentenced on October 21st.
