Update: Man Shot Woman After Trying to Force Her Into Vehicle

STOCKTON – A man was arrested and charged after police said he shot a woman after trying to force her into his vehicle Monday night.

The shooting happened shortly before 10:00pm near the intersection of Aurora and Park Streets. The victim, a 51 year old woman, was walking in the area when she was approached by 48 year old Reginald Wright according to police. Wright allegedly drove up to the victim and told her to get in his vehicle while pointing a gun at her. The victim refused and was shot.

Police and medical personnel responded to the area. The woman was transported to a hospital for treatment of her injuries and was expected to survive.

Police located Wright in his vehicle nearby and took him into custody. Officers located a loaded handgun in his vehicle and placed him under arrest. He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and narcotic violations.
