STANISLAUS COUNTY – Authorities with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office eradicated an illegal marijuana grow west of the city of Waterford Tuesday morning.

Deputies surrounded the location near the area of Yosemite Boulevard and McEwen Road Wednesday morning to serve a warrant on a fenced off property.

Authorities were notified due to a fence that was too high for property code. The Stanislaus County Sheriff Air Unit was able to fly over the property and see the grow operation. A judge signed the warrant to be executed Tuesday morning.

In total nearly 1,000 plants were found. The amount of plants and outdoor grow is not permitted in Stanislaus County.

Neighboring almond farmers applauded the efforts of the sheriff’s office, saying the grows bring an unwanted element to their community.

“I have four kids,” one farmer who wished to remain unidentified said. “We don’t need this around here.”

Four individuals were detained to be questioned on their involvement in the operation. Utility and animal services were also called out to assist at the location.

People should be able to grow how much they want is the virus we are all struggling to keep money in our pocket the police always find a way to mess with somebody stead of going out there Trying to find people that did robberies kill somebody instead of the front of the suspects they find a way to fuck with somebody that is growing That helps everybody that needs medical marijuana
