Service Road Closed for Fire Incident

CERES – A fire incident and reported chemical leak caused a closure of Service Road and surrounding areas late Monday morning.

The incident was dispatched at about 11:15am to the 600 block of Service Road. Arriving crews reported a possible detection of sulfur in the air. By the afternoon, white smoke was seen drifting into the air.

Service Road was closed between Crows Landing and Morgan Roads. Multiple firefighters and at least one HazMat crew were on scene during the incident.

Surrounding businesses, residents and schools were asked to shelter in place for the time being. At publication time there was no estimated time of opening, and no injuries reported.
