Stockton Firefighter Shot, Police Search for Suspect

STOCKTON – A firefighter was rushed to a hospital early Monday morning after they were shot while working a building fire.

The incident began shortly before 5:00am near Aurora Street and the Crosstown Highway. At about 4:48 fire crews were dispatched to the report of a fire at a commercial building in the area. Firefighters began to work in the area when gunshots were fired, striking a firefighter.

The firefighter was rushed to a hospital by ambulance in unknown condition.

Police officers responded to the scene and searched the building and nearby storage yard for the shooter. Early reports indicate at least one person may have been detained, but their involvement was unclear.

The surrounding area was closed off by police for investigation.
