MERCED COUNTY – The driver of a big rig escaped serious injuries when their truck overturned early Sunday morning.
The incident happened in the Livingston area at about 2:25am. For unknown reasons, the truck overturned blocking both lanes of northbound Highway 99 near the Collier Road offramp. The driver was uninjured according to the California Highway Patrol.
Traffic had backed up to Sultana Road by noon as crews worked to clear the roadway. By 1:30pm the highway was nearly ready for re-opening.
The cause of the collision is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
