MODESTO – Detectives with the Modesto Police Department investigated a homicide after a man was found shot near a Hatch Road neighborhood early Wednesday morning.
Officers were dispatched to the area of Monticello Lane just south of West Hatch Road for a report of a person shot. As they arrived they found a man inside of a vehicle suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
A large area of the neighborhood was closed down as detectives examined the scene for any evidence. A vehicle was also sectioned off in an orchard near Monticello Lane.
