MODESTO – Authorities investigated a shooting during an apparent home break in Friday afternoon, the second incident of its kind this week.
Shortly before 12:30pm deputies with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a person shot on West Service Road in an unincorporated area of Modesto.
Early indications suggest the homeowner arrived to his property after receiving some kind of alarm notification and encountered the intruder inside of the house. An altercation ensued and a shot appears to have been fired on the suspect who died in the home.
Deputies closed off the area to investigate the incident. No other injuries were reported.
