STOCKTON – The Stockton Heat, AHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames, announced its decision to move to Canada Monday.

The move makes the current season Stockton’s final. The team will begin playing in Calgary for the 2022-2023 season.

“Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation have appreciated the partnership with the City of Stockton since our arrival in 2015,” read a quote from General Manager Brad Pascall. The press release went on to say “We especially would like to say thank you to the Heat fans who loyally supported the team and continue to throughout the 2022 AHL Playoffs.”

Rumors of the teams decision to move are not new to fans. A taste of the move was given in January of 2021 when the team also made a decision to play in Calgary, citing COVID-19 concerns.

No further details regarding the move were provided Monday.
