Police Investigate Fatal Hit and Run Involving Bicyclist
MODESTO – Police investigated a collision that closed a busy roadway Monday night.
The collision happened at about 9:15 near the intersection of Yosemite Boulevard and La Loma Avenue. Responding officers arrived to find an elderly man in the roadway suffering from major injuries. Life saving attempts were made by first responders, but the man died at the scene.
Police believe the man was walking a bicycle north through a crosswalk at the time of the collision, but against a red crossing signal.
Traffic officers responded to investigate the collision, as the involved motorist did not stop at the scene. Authorities are searching for a silver sedan that continued westbound after striking the pedestrian.
