TURLOCK – Investigators with the Turlock Police Department said speed was a factor in a fatal crash Friday morning.

Shortly before 9:00am police were dispatched to a report of a vehicle collision on the 4000 block of West Main Street. The reports indicated that a motorcycle had rear-ended a tractor trailer.

Responding officers arrived and discovered the motorcyclist deceased at the scene, and life saving care was not possible. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured in the collision. They remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

West Main was closed between Washington Road and Dianne Drive for about three hours for the investigation. Police say speed was a factor, and are working to determine if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.

Police have not received any witness reports. The name of the motorcyclist was withheld pending identification and notification of relatives. He was described only as a man in his thirties.

Anyone with information regarding this crash is encouraged to contact Officer Michael Simbalenko at (209) 668-6523, or the Turlock Police Tip Line at (209) 668-5550 extension 6780.
