CERES – Police arrested a man in connection to a bank robbery that occurred Monday afternoon.
Officers with the Ceres Police Department were dispatched to a robbery report at the Bank of the West on Whitmore Avenue shortly after 3:00pm. Authorities said the suspect was described as a Hispanic man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. The suspect reportedly fled the bank with cash.
While searching the area, officers located a man matching the description at a nearby liquor store. The man was detained and found with $1200 cash believed to belong to the bank.
Police identified the man as 38 year old Bernabe Orejel Jr. He was booked on robbery charges.
