STANISLAUS COUNTY – A high speed chase ended after a pickup truck sped off from authorities Sunday night.

Shortly before 10:30pm officers with the California Highway Patrol attempted to stop a pickup truck which sped off on Paradise Road.

The vehicle at times reached speeds of 100 miles per hour as it traveled eastbound on Paradise Road. Eventually the truck came to a stop near Grimes Avenue where two occupants were taken into custody.

Authorities initially responded to the area of Highway 132 and Hart Road shortly before the pursuit for a report of a pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle. The collision may have happened while a group of vehicles had gathered for a sideshow.

A tow truck was later called for the pickup truck involved in the pursuit.
