SWAT Officers Arrest Homicide Suspect

STOCKTON – Police SWAT officers arrested a homicide suspect after a fatal shooting Tuesday afternoon.

At about 4:21pm officers with the Stockton Police Department responded to a report of a shooting on Gateway Court. Arriving officers located a 43 year old man who had been shot. The victim was transported to a hospital where he died from his injuries.

A person matching the suspect’s description was located by police at a hotel on the 4500 block of North El Dorado Street. Police surrounded the area to prevent the suspect from escaping.

During the incident the suspect discarded a gun at the hotel.

Stockton Police SWAT officers responded and used non-lethal weapons to take the suspect into custody. He was identified as 28 year old Diego Jaramillo.

Jaramillo was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail for murder, and also on a no bail warrant for grand theft. He is expected in court Thursday.
