MODESTO – Police say an altercation between two groups of people led to a shooting at a convenience store Sunday morning.
The shooting happened at the Shop and Go at the corner of Prescott and Mount Vernon shortly after 9:30am. Police officers responded and found two adults suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to a hospital for care.
During the investigation, officers received information that one involved person fled the scene on foot. A perimeter search was conducted, but they were not found.
Detectives responded to the scene to continue the investigation and believe the incident to be isolated. Officials said the two groups of involved persons appeared to know each other.
