MODESTO – Investigators with the Modesto Police Traffic Unit closed down Yosemite Boulevard Wednesday afternoon to investigate a fatal vehicle collision.
The crash happened at about 6:30am near the intersection of Yosemite Boulevard at Ruffino Avenue. Early reports indicate a man in a mobility chair was crossing Yosemite in a crosswalk when he was struck by a westbound vehicle.
Police say the driver of the commercial pickup truck remained at the scene. The injuries initially appeared to be non-life threatening, however investigators were notified around 3:30pm that the patient had died.
Yosemite Boulevard was closed between North Santa Cruz and La Loma Avenue while officers examined the scene.
