TURLOCK – Youth soccer players at Turlock Sports Park are excited to get back on the field and into their favorite game.

“It’s a lot about teamwork and motivating each other to do better,” said Antonio Rasuli, who has played the sport for about 11 or 12 years. He agreed that just sitting at home during the pandemic made it difficult for many to have an active and social lifestyle.

Randi Baptiste with the Academy of Sports Science said participating in youth sports is a good way to combat issues like childhood obesity and diabetes.

“Encouraging kids to live a healthy lifestyle through sports, being active in whatever way you can is very important,” Baptiste explained.

Neo Perez who hopes to someday play in LaLiga agreed that it feels great to be back on the fields.

“I used to do this every Saturday, every Sunday,” he explained. “Looking at all the little kids and all the parents get back into it is really nice.”
