MODESTO – Officers with California Highway Patrol investigated a fatal collision early Sunday morning.
The crash was reported at about 2:13am on the northbound lanes of Highway 99 between Standiford and Pelandale Avenues. Early indications suggest a vehicle traveling north was involved in a collision and the driver was ejected. They were struck multiple times by vehicles after landing on the highway and killed.
Several lanes of the highway were closed as officers investigated the crash. It was unclear if the other involved vehicles who struck the motorist remained at the scene.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
Truck Rolls Off Highway 99 in Modesto
MODESTO – Emergency personnel responded to a report of a truck that rolled off of Highway 99 down an embankment Tuesday afternoon.
Shortly after 6:00pm police and fire emergency responders were dispatched to the area of Southbound Highway 99 near North 9th Street just south of the Carpenter Road overcrossing. Police and CHP Officers located a truck and trailer that had rolled off the highway. The truck came to stop behind a construction company building against an iron fence.
Police and fire responders worked to remove the driver who was said to be unresponsive. He was placed in an ambulance to be transported to a hospital. Rescuers were performing aid as they left.
The circumstances regarding the crash were under investigation Tuesday.
Fatal Pedestrian Collision Investigated
STANISLAUS COUNTY – A pedestrian was pronounced deceased after being discovered on the side of a road, the victim of an apparent vehicle collision Thursday morning.
The incident was reported shortly before 7:00am near the intersection of West Main Street and South Morgan Road. Fire personnel were initially dispatched for a report of a person down on the side of the road suffering an unspecified medical emergency. Authorities were soon requested after it was determined the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle. An air ambulance was initially requested but later canceled.
According to the California Highway Patrol, early indications suggest the crash was a hit and run. There was no description available of an involved vehicle. The pedestrian was only described as a woman.

Jackknifed Truck Congests Highway in Modesto
MODESTO – A big rig the jackknifed and lost its cargo closed Highway 99 Tuesday afternoon.
The crash happened at about 1:50pm on Southbound Highway 99 at the Crows Landing Road exit. The crash caused the truck to lose its cargo, a load of glass, blocking all lanes of the highway.
It was unclear at time of publication if there were any injuries, but at least one ambulance was dispatched to the scene.
Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes and trucks are urged to not use the Seventh Street Bridge.
