Amber Alert Canceled After Discovery of Vehicle, Two Bodies

TUOLUMNE COUNTY - Authorities have deactivated an Amber Alert after the discovery of the associated vehicle over the weekend.

According to the Tuolumne County Sheriffs Office, the vehicle was found on Clark Fork Road near the Sand Flat Campground.

Officials say the bodies of two deceased persons were found near the vehicle.

Authorities say the identities of the two persons were unknown as of Monday morning.

The Amber Alert was activated Saturday morning after two year old John Weir was reportedly taken by his father in Merced County.

The two were reportedly traveling in a red Hyundai sedan.

The child’s father Steven was said to be armed and dangerous according to the California Highway Patrol.

As of Sunday afternoon, the Amber Alert was no longer active on the CHP incident feed.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.
