Stockton Police Investigate Homicide

STOCKTON – Authorities investigated an early morning shooting that claimed the life of a man Monday.

Police responded to the 400 block of Jill Circle for a report of a person shot. Arriving officers located a 37 year old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Authorities say the victim was unresponsive and was rushed to the hospital where he died.

Homicide Detectives responded to examine the scene and gather evidence, however there was no suspect information or motive available.

Much of Jill Circle was taped off by police Monday morning. Several evidence markers covered the ground where investigators gathered items including pieces of clothing. Authorities also examined a car parked nearby, dusting for fingerprints.

Fundraiser Established For Ceres Homicide Victim

CERES – Authorities identified 18-year-old Miguel Peña of Ceres, known as Sebastián to his family, as the homicide victim from Monday.

Sebastián was a passenger of a vehicle with two other occupants on Malik Drive near Strawberry Fields Park Monday night, when another vehicle drove by and opened fire. Sebastián was struck several times, another occupant was struck in the arm.

Just two months before his death, Sebastián had lost his mother after a hard fought battle with cancer.

“Two months ago we suffered the great loss of my mother, who fought tirelessly with cancer and sadly lost the battle. Today my family is in mourning again after the loss of my younger brother Miguel Ángel Sebastián Peña,” said Fabiola Peña, one of Sebastián’s older sisters in a GoFundMe fundraiser.

Police say Sebastián underwent surgery but passed away a few days after the shooting. Peña says her family is left with enormous pain and emptiness.

“With heart in hand we ask you to help us with whatever you can; either financially or with your prayers. Family and friends, the Peña family. We need you more than ever.”

Two Arrested Near Shooting Scene in Stockton

STOCKTON – Police arrested two men and recovered two firearms after responding to a shooting Friday night.

At about 8:17pm police responded to the 4000 block of Townehome Drive for a report of a person shot. Authorities said the victim, a 27 year old man, was walking in the area when he was shot.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for non life threatening injuries.

Police officers responding to the area saw two men running and quickly detained them. Two firearms were located.

Arrested were 20 year old Malcolm Sorriano-Johnson and 34 year old Charles Norris for weapons charges.

Robbery Suspect Arrested in Lodi

LODI – Lodi Police said a suspect wanted for an armed robbery that occurred January 9th in a Walmart parking lot was arrested.

According to police, 26-year-old Troy Rose was identified by detectives as the suspect in the robbery.

After arrest and search warrants for his apartment were issued, Rose left the area as detectives were waiting to arrest him and a perimeter in the area was established.

Authorities said Rose was found hiding in a backyard of a nearby home and was taken into custody.

During the search in Rose’s apartment several illegally obtained firearms, ammunition, body armor, and jewelry from the robbery were found.

Rose was booked on several charges including robbery, resisting arrest, and multiple weapons violations.
