MODESTO – Hours before a crash that claimed the lives of two young men Saturday night, the boyfriend of the woman charged with murder and DUI was also arrested.

According to the Modesto Police Department, David Petrik was arrested at about 4:00pm Saturday afternoon at the Vintage Faire Mall. He was charged with driving under the influence and carrying a concealed firearm in his vehicle.

At the time of the arrest, the Ford F-350 was released to a male friend and Petrik’s girlfriend. The male friend drove the truck away from the area, according to a police spokesperson.

At about 8:00pm, that pickup was involved in a collision at the intersection of Crows Landing Road and West Whitmore Avenue. The truck was traveling south on Crows Landing Road and failed to stop at the red light, colliding into a Nissan sedan traveling east through the intersection. The truck was traveling at an unknown speed according to a release from the Ceres Police Department, however the impact pushed the Nissan into the northbound lanes near the entrance to a shopping center.

The two young men in the Nissan, Favian Reinoso and Yahir Gomez Valladares, died of their injuries at the scene. Danielle Morgan, 28, was arrested and charged with two counts of murder and a DUI related charge. She was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail and held without bail.

Relatives of the two victims set up accounts via GoFundMe to help raise funds for funeral costs. Anyone interested in contributing can do so by clicking on the links below.
