MODESTO – Authorities investigated a stabbing at a South Modesto taco truck that sent a man to a hospital Wednesday night.

The incident happened near the intersection of Crows Landing Road just south of Amador Avenue. Authorities responded to a report of a person stabbed there at about 9:30pm, and located a 34 year old man who was injured.

The victim reported he was sitting on a bench near some taco trucks when he was assaulted. Officials said he was heavily intoxicated at the time and had been involved in an argument with the perpetrator.

The victim was less than fully cooperative, a spokesman with the sheriff’s office said. One witness at the scene who declined to be identified stated the victim was arguing with a person at the food truck who was there with their family when the incident occurred.

The victim was treated by medics and taken to a hospital by ambulance. The injuries were said to be non life threatening.

Officials said deputies reviewed surveillance video that corroborated the victim’s report, but there was no suspect information.

In an odd twist, the night of the stabbing also happened to be the victim’s birthday. He was released from the hospital and arrested on Thursday morning on McHenry Avenue for public intoxication.
