Merced County Deputies Assist With Creek Fire Evacuations

NORTH FORK – With the quick spread of the Creek Fire which has now burned over 143,000 acres and 65 buildings in three days, the Merced County Sheriff’s Office is helping with evacuations.

The sheriff’s office says the Madera County Sheriff’s Office through the California Office of Emergency Services requested mutual aid from surrounding agencies.

Several Merced County deputies volunteered to assist with door to door evacuations near the fire zone.

The Merced County Sheriff’s Office said they will  continue to assist the Madera County Sheriff’s Office until their services are no longer needed.

Merced Triple Shooting Leaves One Dead

MERCED – A shooting near an apartment complex claimed the life of one person, injuring two others early Wednesday morning.

Officers with the Merced Police Department responded to a report of gunfire heard near the apartments at Santa Fe and Glen Avenue. When they arrived they found several victims who were shot.

One of the victims was pronounced deceased inside an apartment, two others who were found outside were rushed to the hospital and were said to be in critical condition.

No suspect information or motive were released by police.

Investigators Seek Help in Homicide Case

STOCKTON – Homicide detectives with the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office are looking for help in a homicide case that occurred near the 4100 block of East Fremont Street on October 17th, 2020.

Investigators say on October 17th, 25-year-old Alvaro Morales-Yac was shot and killed while inside his vehicle at a gas station.

Detectives say the male suspect appears to be heavyset, with a goatee and Hispanic. They believe the suspect is in his 30’s. The suspect was driving a light metallic sedan at the time of the homicide. Investigators believe the car is a 2017 or 2018 Hyundai Elantra.

Fatal Shooting Investigated on Bystrum Road

MODESTO – Detectives investigated a shooting that claimed the life of one person Monday night.

The shooting happened shortly before 11:00pm on Bystrum Road near Lombardo Avenue. Deputies arrived to find a victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound. That victim was transported to a hospital for care but later died.

Authorities did not have any available suspect information and said no arrests had been made. Investigators were seeking the victim’s family Tuesday for notification.
